We often receive emails and posts with people wondering how they can retrieve their expired files. Currently, once files are expired, they are deleted from our system and can no longer be accessed. I thought it would be great if there was some way users could retrieve their expired files. If you agree and would like to see such a feature available with your YouSendIt account, please give Kudos to this post by clicking the Thumbs Up icon.

Why? YSI provides instrutions on how to create a "saved" folder for your files. An expired file should mean exactly what it is: expired and deleted from YSI servers.

True, the way it works seems fairly clear. I personally think this feature would be great, as it gives users a little bit extra rope. Maybe expired files can be retreived from some sort of digital recycle bin for a certain amount of time? I don't know what the details would be, but I can imagine it saving enough people's butts to be considered a valuable feature.

As long as I am the one logged who sent the file--I should be able to retrievean expired file--Often times clients go past even the maximum expiration date you can put on a file before they look at a piece--especially doc segments--Please allow the account holder to retrieve expired files. Thanks

My hard drive crashed, I lost my files and my client never downloaded/backed up the files I sent. It expired two days ago. Is there a way to retrieve them?

OK... the "saved to folders" feature is very cumbersome. The UI on the website is hard to use. I have saved data to folders, but I seem to be unable to open the folders or manage them in a suitable fashion. I wish YS would simply implement features a la Dropbox, as well well as more generous cloud stoprage. 5 GB for $10 a month is totally lame. That completes my rant.

Well, I tried to save the files to YSI but it said there was an error trying to process the file and to try again, I did and received the same message. So then I backed out to try the whole process again and it said my files were expired!! ![]()

Where are you up to with this, obviously as long as a user does not go above their contractual space limits in folders and 'archive' there should be no issue and this feature, going from your thumbs up count and other comments is needed.

Can we create a file/link that never expires?
01-26-2013 07:24 PM
I imagine that YSI archive all files uploaded , otherwise it is a useless business model if their servers go down. While I understand the need to "delete" files there should be a way to access the archive for a small fee. It would be a way generate additional income. After all this technology is not infallabile and we all suffer from compuer crashes.
So when the shoe is on YSI , what will the IT's answer be then...... just sorry ! Not a way to engender loyalty.
You already have it built in, allow users access.

This account was opened in my name with out the consent of me with an email that was hacked into... There was pictures sent using this service that I did not send the photos contained nudity and provocative images that the person stole off a personal computer to be used to look like I took them and sent them I need to find out where they were sent from and the name on the credit card that was used to open this account as they made sure to delete the info so that when I finally figured it out nothing would come back on them I am in the process of filing charges but need to have more info to prove my innocence... I was able to finally gain control of my email thru the help of the police officers so that is how I found that this is one of the account they signed me up for I still have the email that they sent the pictures in in my email send folder someone please help!!!

How can I reopen expired files?
03-28-2013 03:08 PM
I would like there to be an archive area for users.

It would be great to retrieve the expired files. I was out due to being sick and files I did not know about expired.

I would like to add my support to the idea of having a 'grace period' for the retrival of files. A respondent failed to download files I send on 2 Feb 13 and I no longer have these files due to a computer problem Thanks
