Importing existing contacts

Hi! Is there any tool or feature that would allow me to import existing contacts (e.g. from Outlook, GMail etc) directly into my YSI contacts list? If not, here goes my suggestion for a great tool! Thanks!

Re: Importing existing contacts

Tuesday, January 3rd

Dear Mark and crew,

Yes! By all means I support the ability to import contacts. Often a contact's information has been scanned into my system. I could--and would have sent over 40 advance presentations by now, if I had the ability to add to the nested contacts I have.

Thanks for all you do.

PS. Add your company to WiseStamp. It's one more way we can spread the word about you.

John

Re: Importing existing contacts

I can't believe you don't have this option already!

It's a waste of time to have to cut and paste.

Re: Importing existing contacts

Anyone using Microsoft Outlook should try out our Outlook Plugin.  www.yousendit.com/applications

You can attach files using outlook and the plugin can be configured to strip attachments based on a file size you select.  For example, if you want everything over 5mb to go through YouSendIt, it can be configured very easily.

Re: Importing existing contacts

Yes please add importing of contacts, from Outlook at least, and also some form of mass -e-mail group functionality. That seems to be the only feature sets missing from what could be an even greater product!

Selecting email addresses from contact list when sending files

HI - How do I select emails from my contact list, when sending something.  I should just be able to click on a name in my contacts and it appears in the "to" box - right?

I can't find the way to do that and typing out the email addresses every time I send something is way too time consuming

it's simple on sendspace, it fills it out automatically when you start typing the email,

Re: Selecting email addresses from contact list when sending files

Slow pokes working at YOUSENDIT??  are you KIDDIN'??  It should be linked to gmail, and act like gmail in that if one begins typing a name, the dropbox appears where you click on the correct name/email-address.  FIX IT.  Thanks.  DoctorNic

Re: Importing existing contacts

Convenience like a contact list (gmail was a good suggestion) is the kind of feature that creates brand loyalty. I support this win-win idea.

Re: Importing existing contacts

Please do so, I have around 3000 contacts in Outlook so it would be helpful to import.  I have used the outlook plugin but don't like to because it does not save/track on the web access option the invites sent from Outlook.  I could write an import program for contacts in about 5 or 6 hours.  JUST DO IT !!!!

Re: Importing existing contacts

Suggest the ability to create a spreadsheet file from a contact data base, create a CSV file and being able to import this into the yousendit contact data base. Possible? Based on other postings, I know it or some variation is being worked on. Q: What is the timeframe I might expect to see this utility?

Re: Importing existing contacts

Yes, please!  I send an MP3 file of a group conference to all group members, and to not be able to use my already-configured Group compiled in Outlook is ludicrous.  It is no fun hand-typing 10 different addresses and keeping it error free.

I sure wish you had this import option from Outlook.  It would really help with the time it takes to send a file.  Michael Gibson

Re: Importing existing contacts

Yes please add importing of contacts. I know you have a plugging for Outlook but that only works when I am at my computer.  It would be nice to have the contacts when I send from another computer while traveling.

Re: Importing existing contacts

How about something even simpler:  A way to add Contacts manually to the list of Contacts.  Inveitably there is always one person I want to add to a YouSendIt transmission.  And Speaking of the Contact list, I see speaces for a Contact's first and last name.  This would be make it far easier to find who you're looking for.  But oddly there seems to be no way to actually enter a Contact's first or last name.  What's that all about?

P.S.: The Outlook plugin is not much of an answer.  I use YouSendIt for very large files/folders.  But an automatic border between sending stuff via Outlook and sending it via YouSendIt is not very practical.  For one thing, the allowable size of e-mails varies too much to be easily predictable.  A crips division would send a lot of stuff via YouSendIt that might well go directly.  I would rather make the call myself.

Re: Importing existing contacts

For my business (a solo medical practice), a YouSendIt contact management system is essential for daily function. I am interested in sending out HIPPA-compliant password-protected documents to all my referring providers (clients). Currently I have about 500 clients to whom I routinely send documents.

The contact management system must have:

1) the ability to share the contact list throughout the office. Not only do I send documents through my computer, but I also send documents from each and every consult room in my clinic and my support staff sends documents on my behalf from theirs. A single central list needs to be located on the server that all workers can access concurrently, or a single web-based list accessible concurrently is necessary.

2) the ability to group emails under one name. Most clients need to have a copy of the document sent directly to them but also a separate copy sent to their record-keeping manager. So, two or more email addresses needs to be associated with each contact. (Such as group emails in Outlook).

3) the ability to put in other information besides name and email address. This includes Company Names, Department, Title, Note.

4) the ability to sort by any of the above category. Right now your contacts only sort by First Name. This is very unacceptable for anyone attempting to use more than a couple of contacts. One should be able to click on the top header for Last Name and it resort by last name, Click on Company Name and it re-sort by company name.

5) The ability to import from other contact lists and export to back-up files.

The other option for this deficiency is to use OutLook PlugIn but then there is no ability to have a central contact list for all my office staff to access.

I currently fax reports to clients via eFax and eFax has a contact system that meets all these requirements. Their contact 'phonebook' is a separate file that is stored on the central server and all computers in my clinic have the eFax software pointing to the central phonebook. I and my staff can fax these documents from any computer in the clinic.  Unfortunately, faxing documents has become archaic and a HIPPA-compiant email system is needed to take its place with the same ease of use of contacts.

Please expand your contact management system ASAP. YouSendIt has very limited use in my business until you provide this.

Okay we obviously see three pages of requests to import contacts from various email platforms.  Can someone on the YouSendIt team please respond to the plan and action to finalize this request.

Thank You!

Re: Importing existing contacts

I need to be able to share folders with a large number of email contacts and to be able to import and sync my contact list in outlook with yousendit. Right bow the only way to share folers is to manually tyoe an email address in. This maked no sense in 2012!! Please hurry

Re: Importing existing contacts

Another option would be to allow the Outlook plugin to have a share folders feature. This seemd to be a major deficiency in your product.

Re: Importing existing contacts

We would also like to see the ability to import Outlook contacts into your Express program.  I would use the Outlook pluggin, but I understand it won't keep a record/receipt like the express.

Re: Importing existing contacts

You can now import your Yahoo! and Gmail contacts into your YouSendIt account. Here's more information on that:

And stay tuned, as we will be implementing more importing features in the future!

Re: Importing existing contacts

Are we still waiting for the ability to import our Outlook (2010) contacts into YouSendIt ... or maybe just a simple click so you could select the actual contact from your Outlook folder during the Send instead of importing which can get out of date every day .....

Not everyone uses or wants to use Google Apps (GMail) with syncing to Outlook.  Thanks.

Re: Importing existing contacts

I am also waiting to import Outlook contacts. This is a major shortcoming for YouSendIt. Do you know of another large file system where you can do this? If so, I will switch to that.

Re: Importing existing contacts

This is a critical issue which needs some attention. It would be great if we could import existing contacts from Outlook, but if that is not possible, allow some sort of access to our mailing list which resides at You Send It, and allow us to easily add and delete names, and form mailing lists.

It is really painful toggling through the list and trying to remember which e-mail address represents a recipient for each particular message.

I would even stand still for some sort of service which would allow me to send a list into the You Send It team with the ability to form and modify specific mailing lists.
