Terri Wright and Nora RudolphThis is the first of many employee interviews: starting with the HR team! There are a lot of changes going on at YouSendIt – sure most of you know by now, but we hired a new CEO. Thought it was fitting to start this series with the people who are helping Brad Garlinghouse grow our employee base and build on our existing culture. Terri Wright, our VP of HR, and Nora Rudolph, Sr. Technical Recruiter, were eager to tell you all about their experiences so far at YouSendIt.

1. When did you join YouSendIt, and what attracted you to YouSendIt?

TW: I’m new -- I just joined YouSendIt on April 16, 2012. I was thrilled about the opportunity to work with a team of really smart people, who are focused on building a great company. It’s exciting to come to a business that is on the verge of much bigger things, and it’s refreshing to work with an executive team that welcomes change.

NR: I started May 14, 2012. I was extremely impressed by the people I met during my interviews.  I also had worked for larger companies in the past, so I was eager to work in a startup environment; where I have the opportunity to be part of the bigger picture. There is a lot of opportunity at YouSendIt!

2. Tell us about the current recruiting efforts?

TW: This is a really exciting time in the company’s history. There is so much opportunity for people to make significant contributions and have a lot of fun at the same time.  A large population of our employees have been at the company for less than a year, which has stimulated a great deal of new ideas and enthusiasm! We’re competing like so many companies for the best people, and it’s thrilling to be here during such an explosive time.

NR: We have been focusing on a couple key positions, and have seen a tremendous interest in each one. We have been looking for really smart committed people, who have the hard skills, but also the culture fit. We currently have 20 open positions! It is rewarding when we find the right person.

3. How do you see the culture right now at YouSendIt? And where do you want it to be?

TW: It’s ever-changing. We are building upon the excitement that our new CEO has brought to YouSendIt. Having employees that take pride in YouSendIt and celebrate our successes, will help in creating an even more positive and collaborative environment. For the company to grow, everyone needs to be open to change, share new ideas, and not be afraid to speak up. We simply want to retain and hire innovative people who don’t settle for the status quo.

NR: Every manager and employee needs to empower one another to create an open and respectful environment that is warm and friendly. As a whole we cannot resist change, but need to encourage collaboration among all departments. A good company culture is also about trusting people we bring on to do the right thing and let them do what they do best.

4. What is your favorite YouSendIt feature and why?

TW: I like our legacy feature – Send. Our employees use YouSendIt every day; in a sense we eat our own dog food. The send feature is fast, cloud-based and extremely simple to use. Even for the technically challenged (like me!).

NR: I love using our e-signature feature. It is a secure easy way to sign documents quickly. I also like that I can access the e-sign feature on any device (mobile or computer). I do not have to be next to my desktop in order to sign a document. I use this feature almost every day to sign and send offer letters to potential hires. It always excites me when the candidates tell me how easy it was to sign and send the offer letter back to me. Nice way to show off how well our product works.

5. What is one technology you can’t live without?

TW: My iPhone.  First and foremost, I don’t leave home without it!

NR: Also my iPhone. I use it for work and personal life. Everything is on my phone. I can access the web, get directions, work, listen to books, etc.

Hi there,

I have a free YouSendIt account that has been billed $14.99 USD for the month of June and again in July. I can't find anyone to rectify this.  Can you please point me in the right direction to get this issue resolved?

Thanks,
