The New YouSendIt Android Mobile App

by Community Manager ‎12-21-2011 08:35 AM - edited ‎12-21-2011 10:23 AM

We want our users to be able to access their YouSendIt data on any device at any time, so of course we developed an Android app. We want to make it easy to send, share, sync and sign your files from anywhere, on any device. So you can do what you do best—create, innovate and collaborate. First we want to teach everyone why a mobile Andriod App is extremely useful when you are on the go.

YouSendIt Android Mobile App E-SgnatureReal World Situation…it could happen

Imagine you are a Sales Rep out in the field. You go into a meeting with a customer at their office. First they are interested in your new products and want to see a product spec sheet. You did not bring any physical copies of the spec sheet, so you go into your YouSendIt cloud folders to view the document. You can then talk about the product accurately as well as send the document directly to the customer from your YouSendIt folder. They start to ask questions about the future of your product roadmap, and you know you cannot tell them anything further without having them sign an NDA. Of course, you know that you can open a blank NDA from your cloud folder and have the customer sign it and save it right there. You finally have a brainstorm session about what future product features that would like to see. To capture all of your ideas you take a picture of the board with your mobile phone. You then can upload this image to a new YouSendIt cloud folder, and share it with your customer so they are able to access the image as well. You are now able to have a seamless and easy interaction with your customers all from your Android device.

OK this sounds great, now how do I get started?

YouSendIt Andriod Mobile App Share FoldersFirst you need to download the Android App; then simply login with your current YouSendIt account or create a new account. The app will automatically sync all of your content from the web or desktop app (if you are current YouSendIt user).

You can now send files and folders, share them with others, and manage permissions, quickly and easily, all from the YouSendIt Android app! You can queue up multiple uploads; as well as fill, sign and annotate your documents with the YouSendIt Android app. Of course, all our apps have syncing capabilities, meaning anything you change on your mobile device is instantly saved back to the cloud.

This is the first version of our Android app so your feedback is extremely valuable for our next release. Please leave any and all comments in this blog post or you can go to our user forum. Most importantly make sure you rate the Andriod App in the Andriod Market Place.

Hello,

Here is another Real World Situation that actually happened to me.

At a birthday party, I took video with my phone of someone successfully flipping the birthday cake in the air and I want it to share it with the people at the party, unfortunately, the Android application of YouSendIt does not allow me to select a video file to be uploaded.

Why YouSendIt does not allow me to select a video file to be uploaded.?

Hey Roberto,

You can actually do this from your YouSendIt Android App... Follow the steps below.

1. Login to YouSendIt on your Android Device

2. Click on the camera icon in the top right

3. Selct 'Photo Library'

4. Then select the video you want to upload

Upload Video with YouSendIt Android App

Then you can share the uploaded video with all your friends.

Best,

Katie

I share a folder and need to download an image from it  to my phone via the Android app. Can I do this?

Thank you.

Using the Android App, is their a way to see if a file has been downloaded, and by whom?

Such a feature would be very useful, and probably to iPhone users, as well.

thanks

Miss some great features in the Android Apps...

- automatic upload of a folder

- upload of a folder and not just some files

- "select all" when browsing a folder on the phone... it's painful to have to check 100 times each files...

Are you planning to do this?

This are the reasons I'm not ready to pay for the Pro version.
