Say someone sends me a file via YouSendIt; I can save this file to my cloud folders, where it will never expire, and having the file in my folders gives me access to this file from multiple devices. When I download a single file sent to me, saving it into my online folders is fairly simple – I just select the Save an Online Copy option when I receive a file, follow the simple instructions provided, and the file gets saved to the cloud.
However, if I wish to download multiple files that were sent to me in a single YouSendIt attachment, as well as save them to my online folders, I have to save each file one by one if I am using the Web App to download my files. For this Feature Friday post, we are going to walk through using the YouSendIt Desktop App to save files to your online folders, and to have them automatically sync to your computer, saving you from having to download each file individually.
First, make sure that you have the Desktop App installed and running on your computer. You can download the Desktop App for the PC or Mac here.
Next, we’ll go to an email message sent to me containing multiple files to download. Normally, I would have to download each file individually, but I’m going to click Save to Folders instead.
Once I’ve clicked Save to Folders, I will be redirected to the Folders section of my YouSendIt account, where I can select which folder I want to save my files into, or create a new folder. I’m going to create a new folder named Received Files, select this folder, and hit Submit.
I will then be redirected to the Received Files folder in my web browser, where the files sent to me will appear.
Now, because my Desktop App is up and running, I will see a rotating orange circle appear over the Desktop App icon in the system tray. This indicates that data is being synced to my computer from my online folders.
Once the Received Files folder has synced to my computer, the rotating orange circle will become a green circle, and a message will appear in the lower-right section of my screen, indicating how many files and folders have been added to my YouSendIt Folder.
And with that, I have successfully saved files sent to me via YouSendIt into my online folders, and downloaded them onto my computer! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post them in this thread. Thanks!

I have a twist to this problem/solution: what if the person to whom I am sending multiple files does not have a YouSendIt account? Does that person have to download each file individually?

Hi TJ. If your recipient doesn't have a YouSendIt account and you send multiple files, then yes, they will have to down each file individually. What I may suggest is compressing your files into one single zip file, and then sending it.

Not good enough. I am NOT going to install your software & have it always running, just because you refuse to add the "Download All" button inside the email. You obviously know the demand exists, but choose not to give your customers what they want.
I will no longer use your service & also ask my customers not to use it. Thanks for the years of single downloads. Goodbuy. Wes ![]()

Wes,
Again - we are sorry to see you go, especially since you are such an active member in our community ![]()
If you'd like, I can personally notify you when the "Download All" button gets added. We value your feedback and would love to see you return.

Ah, love to see sarcasm directed at a customer by a "Community Manager."
"Wes" is frustrated. We are frustrated. Our 'value' to Yousendit is not defined by how many times we post to the community, or the "rage quit" we often feel is necessary. We would like common-sense answers to our simple questions. As a paying customer, I interested in solutions, over endless conversations about what I can't do, compared to other services.
There are glaring issues with the Desktop App being unresponsive to selective sync settings, User issues such as the single download restriction, which is really a ploy to get more people to use your service by signing up to get multiple downloads... the C: drive restriction, the 2Gb limit, the list goes on.
These are not new issues, these are not insuperable odds... these are reasonable expectations created by the existing capabilities of other services... but which Yousendit seem incapable or unwilling to address.
I know that being the Moderator in a community attached to a half-baked product is going to be challenging, but please, try to maintain some professionalism, or those of us businesses with sensitive material or mission-critical exposure to your company may start to have second thoughts based on personality rather than genuine technical issues.
I hope Yousendit gets the ship righted soon,
I hope you find a way to communicate effectively with paying customers,
Hope springs eternal at Yousendit Community Forums... ![]()

Hi Alenn,
I'm sure you know that by no means was it my intention to offend you or anyone in the community! I appreciate your honest feedback and hope you understand that we are listening to our customers and our team is working hard to fix the issues that are the source of your frustration.
I completely understand and respect that many of our users are businesses that handle sensitive material - YouSendIt takes your privacy and the security of your data very seriously.
The community is a place to come hang out. I want to encourage people to come here to express excitement, suggestions, and yes, even frustrations when things aren't working the way they should.
All the best to you!

Dear Kathleen,
I just received over 200 files and would like to download these in one go; I have registered and installed the Yousendit Express program, but so far have not succeeded in downloading all. Do I need to ask my sender to resend the invite?
Many thanks for your help,
Arnoud

Hi Arnoud! Thanks for reaching out ![]()
A few questions to help me investigate:
- Did the person send these files one by one or in a compressed folder/zip file?
- Are you logging into the Express App with the same email address as the one the sender sent those files to?
- Are you getting a specific error message when you try to download the files? Or are the files not even showing up?
Thanks and I look forward to your response!

What you describe is SYNCING not multiple DOWNLOADING. I don't want to sync the entire folder to my computer, for the simple reason that I need to put different files in different folders in order to keep track of them; I want to download them manually, multiple files at a time.
It is very confusing (misleading) that you call this downloading.
And why oh why is the "received files" folder not in the overview of folders? That should not be too difficult? "Overview" suggests that one has an overview of all files, but that is just not the case...
Sorry, yousendit.com is really not up to it any more, I am going to remove the "app" (that should not be called an app either, it is just windows explorer with a rather useless yousendit folder added) and end my subscription. The competition offers far better apps and sites to work with. You lost the syncing / dropboxing game, I guess!!
