YouSendIt has made an application available in Yahoo! Mail called Attach Large Files which lets you send files using YouSendIt directly from your Yahoo! Mail account. The following FAQ answers some common questions about this application. The Attach Large Files application is only available through Yahoo! Mail.
- Q: I am using the Attach Large Files application available through Yahoo! Mail. What information from my Yahoo! Mail account is being shared with YouSendIt?
A: Only your email address is shared with YouSendIt.
- Q: Why don't I see the Attach Large Files application in the Yahoo! Applications menu?
A: In order to see the Attach Large Files application, click the "+" next to Applications and select the +Add button for the Attach Large Files application. You may also be running the "Classic" version of Yahoo! Mail, which doesn't support the Attach Large Files application. You can change versions of Yahoo! Mail by clicking on the All-New Mail link above the Yahoo! Mail Classic image. After you click the link, the Attach Large Files application will be available under the Applications menu.
- Q: I don’t have a YouSendIt account but I am able to send files via the Attach Large Files application available in Yahoo! Mail. Can I also log into the YouSendIt site?
A: When you used the Attach Large Files application from Yahoo! Mail, a free YouSendIt account was created for you. - Q: I am trying to create an account at YouSendIt with my Yahoo! email address and it says that the account already exists. I never created an account.
A: When you used the Attach Large Files application from Yahoo! Mail, a free YouSendIt account was created for you. Please click on the following link and set your password and then you can log into the site: Reset YouSendIt Password Once you reset your YouSendIt password, the next time you use the Attach Large Files application in Yahoo! Mail, you will be asked to validate your new password. Please see Resetting Your Attach Large Files/YouSendIt Password for more information.
- Q: I keep getting a pop-up warning when trying to reset my Attach Large Files/YouSendIt password.
A: Pop-ups must be enabled in your web browser to complete the reset password process.
- Q: I have been using the Attach Large Files application available through Yahoo! Mail but it never asked me to log in. Today I got a pop up to log in. What’s going on?
A: When you initially used the Attach Large Files application, a free YouSendIt account was created for you but the password was not set. If you set your password on the YouSendIt site, then the Attach Large Files application asks for your password.
- Q: I am a paid YouSendIt user. I have recently started using the Attach Large Files application through Yahoo! Mail. Can I log into the YouSendIt site and change the file expirations or remove a file sent through the Attach Large Files application?
A: Yes. You can change file expirations or remove files from YouSendIt site as usual.
- Q: I have a paid YouSendIt account. Why can’t I change file expiration or select other send options like Password Protection, Certified Delivery and Return Receipt in the Attach Large Files application available in Yahoo! Mail?
A: Currently these features are not available in the Attach Large Files application in Yahoo! Mail.
- Q: Will files sent through the Attach Large Files application available in Yahoo! Mail also appear in my YouSendIt "Sent Items" and vice versa?
A: Files sent through the Attach Large Files application from Yahoo! Mail will appear in your "Sent Items" section of YouSendIt account. Currently the Attach Large Files application in Yahoo! Mail does not display sent file history.
- Q: Can I send multiple files up to 100 MB each from the Attach Large Files application?
A: You can send multiple files from the Attach Large Files application but the total size of all the files together has to be less than or equal to 100 MB, or files can be up to 2 GB if you are a Paid user.
- Q: Earlier I used to get pretty links for YouSendIt files but now I see simple text links. What’s wrong?
A: Please check that you are using Rich Text for your Yahoo! emails. If you use an email client like Outlook, you may have to right click the "X" and select "Download Pictures"
- Q: I sent a file yesterday. Today I want to resend that same file to another person. How do I do that?
A: You can do this as long as you have not sent the file with the Verify Recipient Identity function or it has expired. It has to be done through the Yahoo! Attach Large Files if you are not a Paid user. If you are a Paid user, you can forward the file from your YouSendIt account at YouSendIt.com.
- Q: How do I remove the Attach Large Files in the Yahoo! Applications menu?
A: To remove the Attach Large Files application, click the "+" next to Applications and select the X Remove button for the Attach Large Files application.
- Q: Someone sent me a file using the Attach Large Files application. Why don't I see it in the "Received Files" section of my YouSendIt account?
A: Currently this functionality is not available for files sent using the Attach Large Files application. To download the file, you must use the link provided in the email you received.
- Q: Why do the files I sent through the Attach Large Files application show up in my YouSendIt "Received Files" or "Inbox" section?
A: This is a current limitation of the application.
- Q: I tried using the "Attach files more easily" link in Yahoo! Mail, but it the files didn't get sent using YouSendIt. Why not?
A: "Attach files more easily" is a function of Yahoo! Mail and not YouSendIt. In order to send files through YouSendIt, you must click the Attach Large Files link in the Applications menu.
- Q: I got "Error 2038" when trying to send a file. Why?
A: There are a number of reasons why that error can happen. Please check the following items to resolve this error:
- Q: Why is the expiration date of the file I send through Attach Large Files 30 days, but the file I send through my YouSendIt Lite account only 7 days?
A: The extended expiration date for files sent through Attach Large Files is currently only a feature of the the Yahoo! Mail Attach Large Files application. Paid users can modify the expiration of files by logging into their YouSendIt account at YouSendIt.com.
- Q: How many files can I upload at one time using Attach Large Files?
A: The maximum number of files you can send at one time is 25.
- Q: What version of Yahoo! Mail is Attach Large Files available in?
A: Attach Large Files is available for Yahoo! Mail Beta and Yahoo! Mail versions of Yahoo! Mail. Yahoo! Mail Classic will not have the Attach Large Files application as an option. You can change versions of Yahoo! Mail by clicking on the All-New Mail link above the Yahoo! Mail Classic image. After you click the link, the Attach Large Files application will be available under the Applications menu.
- Q: What are the new Verified Recipient Identity, Password Protection, and Return Receipt functions?
A: These are features which are available for a YouSendIt Paid account user. You can read more about each function on our Knowledge Base article: What are the Pay Per Use options on YouSendIt?. If you do not have a YouSendIt Paid account, you can sign up for an account at our Compare Plans Page. You can also sign up through the Yahoo! Attach Large Files feature by selecting one of the Verify Recipient Identity, Password Protection, or Return Receipt
- Q: Why can't I sign in to purchase a Paid account? It's not accepting my password.
A: You may need to reset your YouSendIt password. Please see Resetting Your Attach Large Files/YouSendIt Password for more information on confirming your YouSendIt password with the Attach Large Files application.
- Q: Why wasn't my recipient able to download the file I sent with Verify Recipient Identity?
A: The email address of each recipient must be entered before the file is uploaded. If you entered the email address after the file was uploaded, but while you were composing your message, then our system did not register that recipient. Please send the file again. Your recipient also must have at least a free Lite account with YouSendIt to download a file you send with Verify Recipient Identity.
- Q: How do I know what level of YouSendIt account I have?
A: You can find it when logged into YouSendIt. To log into YouSendIt:
- Please confirm your internet browser is updated with the most recent version available.
- Confirm you have a good internet connection to your computer. Network or speed interruptions with your internet service provider (ISP) can cause this error.
- Check your computer’s system clock. Make sure the current Date and Time is set.
- Adobe Flash Player: Make sure you are running the most recent version of Flash: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about
- Q: Why can I send multiple files through Attach Large Files but not through my YouSendIt Lite account?
A: Sending multiple files is not available for the YouSendIt Lite account, but we have made it available for the Yahoo! Mail Attach Large Files application.

- The type of account is listed under Billing Plan
You can also tell what kind of account you have when you're sending through Attach Large Files. If the icon says you can "Select files up to 100MB" then you are a Lite user. If the icon says you can "Select files up to 2GB" then you are a Paid user.
- Q: How do I control the expiration of files when I'm sending from Yahoo! Attach Large Files?
A: You can control the expiration of files through the "Control file expiration" check box under the "Premium Options"
- Q: I had the Attach Large Files application installed, then I removed it, and then I added it again. The application is now wanting me to verify my YouSendIt password. What can I do?
A: You will need to reset your YouSendIt password. Please see article Resetting Your Attach Large Files/YouSendIt Password for more information.
- Q: I'm trying to send a file, but it just won't send. What happened?
A: If you have previously signed up for a YouSendIt Pro or Lite account, but have not activated your YouSendIt account, this error could happen. Please activate your YouSendIt account by resending your Account Activation Email at https://www.yousendit.com/resendActivation. Once you activate your account, Yahoo! Mail will prompt you to enter your YouSendIt password.
